More and more singles are turning to blind dates or "Fix ups" in the
hope of meeting that special someone to begin a satisfying relationship
with. Although it can be extremely nerve wracking to anticipate spending an evening with someone you have never met before,
making a good first impression on a blind date can help to ensure that
your date is adequately impressed and is enthusiastic about going out
again.
Be Well Informed On Your Date's Preferences Before Arranging The Date.
If your idea of a great first date is a picnic in the park, but your
date suffers from horrible allergies, you will certainly want to rethink
your plans before setting up the date. Talk over your plans with the
person who is doing the fixing up to be sure that your date will not
agree to plans that she will not enjoy just to be polite.
Arrive On Time.
This can not be stressed enough as a very important tip in making a
good first impression. Making your date wait for you to arrive sends a
clear message that your time is more valuable than their's and will not
put you in good favor with your blind date. Your date is probably just
as nervous as you and will only become more anxious if made to wait
which will not start the date off on the right foot. Int the same vein,
if you are being picked up for the blind date, be ready to go when your
date arrives.
Dress Appropriately. Although you may be
absolutely in love with that little black cocktail dress you just bought
and look absolutely amazing in it, it is not appropriate for a night of
bowling and pizza. Be sure to choose an outfit that will be appropriate
for the date's activities and that enables you to be comfortable. You
will not be able to relax and enjoy your date if you are wearing shoes
that pinch or pants that cut into your thighs all night.
Don't Talk About Your Desire To "Settle Down."
This may be your 37th first date this year without any progress towards
finding that person to enter into a serious relationship, but sharing
your strong desire to get married and have children will surely scare
off your date. He or she may think that you will push the relationship
too fast without taking the time to get to know each other. A blind date
should be casual without any pressure on either side to continue dating
if the chemistry is just not there.
Show A Sincere Interest In Your Date.
Ask questions about your blind date's work, family and hobbies. Let the
conversation take a natural course and make an honest effort to get to
know your date.
Don't Drink Too Much. A case of the
nerves may cause you to consume more alcohol than you are used to
drinking. Becoming inebriated on a blind first date will surely cause
you to behave in an unbecoming fashion and possibly create a very unsafe
situation.
Do Not Say You Will Call If You Won't. At the
end of the blind date, if you feel that this is not a relationship you
would like to pursue, do not make a phony promise of a phone call of the
next day. Simply be polite and tell your date that you had a good time
and enjoyed meeting them. If you promise to call and then don't, it will
potentially cause issues between your date and the person who set you
up. Although it may be disappointing on first, eventually your blind
date will think of you as someone with integrity who they enjoyed one
evening with.
